Carice van Heusden

Carice van Heusden is a young filmmaker from the Netherlands who currently resides in Brussels. Her passion for film was ignited at an early age, inspired by the power of storytelling and the visual possibilities inherent in the medium. This profound appreciation for cinema ultimately led her to Brussels, where she has further developed her creativity and immersed herself in the world of film at the RITCS School of Arts.

‘In my personal work, I focus on the female perspective, using a strong research-based methodology. This results in intimate films that explore the complexity of the human psyche and human relationships. Beyond the discipline of film, I aspire to break open the defined boundaries between the different art disciplines and have a keen interest in theatre and visual arts.’

Besides focusing on developing her voice as an author, she held various roles within different discipline, including: assistant director, screenwriter and the art department. After completing several distinctive short films during her studies, she is now working on her Bachelor Film ‘Nova Alma’ at RITCS.

‘THE FIRST ATTEMPT - The Primordial Darkness of the Mother’s Lap’

‘Even the best attempts at explanation are only more or less successful translations into another metaphorical language’ - Carl Jung.

An experimental documentary that makes an attempt to gain insights into the personal subconscious part of the shadow, following Jung's theory. Noa's voice leads us through a dense, introspective journey through her subconscious and questions the role of the mother tyre.
