Carice van Heusden

Carice van Heusden is a young filmmaker from the Netherlands who currently resides in Brussels. Her passion for film was ignited at an early age, inspired by the power of storytelling and the visual possibilities inherent in the medium. This profound appreciation for cinema ultimately led her to Brussels, where she has further developed her creativity and immersed herself in the world of film at the RITCS School of Arts.

‘In my personal work, I focus on the female perspective, using a strong research-based methodology. This results in intimate films that explore the complexity of the human psyche and human relationships. Beyond the discipline of film, I aspire to break open the defined boundaries between the different art disciplines and have a keen interest in theatre and visual arts.’

Besides focusing on developing her voice as an author, she held various roles within different discipline, including: assistant director, screenwriter and the art department. After completing several distinctive short films during her studies, she is now working on her Bachelor Film ‘Nova Alma’ at RITCS.

TOUCHPOINT

In a dystopian future, where society has become completely alienated from each other and physical contact has been forbidden, a young man, Noah, struggles with his growing desire for intimacy. Isolated in a world where people no longer touch each other, Noah discovers the existence of a secret “touch therapy,” which quietly helps people overcome their fear of physical contact.

This scene not only explores the ever-increasing isolation of humans in an increasingly polarized society but also touches on the taboo surrounding sex work. The film emphasizes the essential human need for touch and physical contact in a time of growing individualism.
